Michael is the recipient of a 2014 Pew Fellowship from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, a multidisciplinary grantmaker dedicated to stimulating a vibrant cultural community in the greater Philadelphia region. Read the press release here.
The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society has commissioned Michael to compose a suite for flute and piano for premiere in October 2015 by Jeffrey Khaner and Charles Abramovic. Michael has also appeared on the PCMS stage as a pianist, presenting a duo recital with tubist Carol Jantsch at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Nov. 9, 2014.
Michael has been chosen by the S&R Foundation to receive the Washington Award, presented to talented young artists in the fields of fine arts, music, drama, dance, photography, and film. He was also designated as a Grand Prize winner, which carries an additional cash award and engagements on the foundation's Washington, DC-based concert series.
