Following on the success of The Seahorse and the Crab, the Philadelphia Orchestra Association has commissioned a second work from Michael to be premiered March 29 and 31 on its educational outreach series, Sound All Around. The new work, The Last Little Chick, is freely inspired by a classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
Michael has been chosen by the S&R Foundation to receive the Washington Award, presented to talented young artists in the fields of fine arts, music, drama, dance, photography, and film. He was also designated as a Grand Prize winner, which carries an additional cash award and future engagements on the foundation's Washington, DC-based concert series.
Philadelphia's Lyric Fest presents the world premiere of Michael's Infirm on its "Dear March—Come In" program, which celebrates the work of American women poets in concerts on March 28 and 30.
